Lake Fork Swimbait Fishing

Lake Fork Report – April 12, 2015

If you follow my guide service on Facebook, you know that we’ve been having some REALLY big days on Lake Fork the past few weeks. This week was no different as this past Wednesday, my clients Scott and Trey had the trip of a lifetime with their best five weighing 42 lbs 4 oz. They started the morning with a 9-07 and 8-02 double, and later added an 8-12, 8-03, 7-12, 7-10, 7-03, 6-12, and 6 others from 5-6 lbs. We didn’t catch a small fish all day. It was awesome!!!

On Thursday, Jay and I had another big day with our best five weighing 36 lbs 13 oz. Jay caught his new personal best of 8-01, and he also added a 6-14 and a 6-07. I caught an 8-12 and a 6-11.

A cold front came through on Thursday night, and we were faced with light northeast winds, and that shut my big bite down on Friday. We managed to scratch out a few on a Santone Piglet shaky head, but we didn’t have much size.

There are tons of fish on beds right now, and we are starting to see more post spawn fish each day. Water temperature on the main lake is 65 degrees, and it is in the lower 70s in the back of some creeks. Water level is sitting at 400.17 (2.83 below full pool), and the weather forecast is calling for an inch of rain over the next few days. This should bring us up some, and it would be perfect timing.

Here are a few pics from the past couple of weeks:

Much of the same today on Lake Fork, although we did add a few swimbait fish to the mix including a 7.81 caught by Hank. We also a added a 7.31 and a bunch of nice slot fish. The swimbait fish were in 2-6 ft and the soft plastics fish were in 5-12 ft.
