March 22, 2012

The lake is up 2.3 ft so far after the rains, and the lake now sits at 400.91 as of this writing (a little over 2 ft below normal pool).

The fish seem to have scattered some, but we managed to put an even 20 in the boat yesterday and 18 in the boat today. Both days we lost a few in the standing timber, and yesterday, we lost an 8+ that broke my client's line a few feet from the boat. That was a real heartbreaker for us both!!!

We caught fish both days from 4-10 ft of water with the 8 ft range producing the most bites/fish. Drop shots and shaky heads have been the ticket in these depths. Concentrate on points with standing timber at the mouth of small creeks and spawning pockets.

Water temps are averaging about 63 degrees and the water is slightly stained on the south end and muddy in the upper ends.
