It's been a while since I've posted, and since I had some time, I wanted to post an update on Lake Fork and let everyone know the "state of the lake"!!!

We have had a great year overall on Lake Fork. The lake is about 3 ft low as of this writing, and the water temps have been in the mid to upper 80s which is pretty typical for this time of year.

This past winter and spring saw an increase in both size and numbers in my boat. The grass has come back in a big way in much of the lake, and that has made a HUGE difference in the success of our spawns and the population of bass has really taken off.

Our population had decreased immensely due to low water levels and the lack of vegetation. We were really lacking in certain year classes of fish, and you could tell by our catches. Our quality and quantity of bass weren't what we were accustomed to around here.

Well, that has changed!! My customers have caught more bass between 6-9 pounds this year than they have since 2015. The number of 20+ fish days have been higher than I can remember in a long time. The arrow is pointed up for us at Lake Fork, and now is the time to take advantage of it.

This fall, I would expect some great days for numbers with some big bass mixed in from time to time. If you like to fish shallow, it's a great time of year to fish. We will be throwing topwater, chatterbaits, swimbaits, and crankbaits in shallow water. For those deep water fish, it's hard to beat a Carolina rig, drop shot, and a jigging spoon.
