Frequently Asked Questions

What do we need to bring?

I suggest you bring the following
items:

  • 2 or 3 rods and reels per person (if you prefer to use your own) spooled with fresh 15-20 lb test line
  • Appropriate seasonal clothing
  • Rain suit (if the forecast calls for rain)  Click here for weather forecast
  • Sunglasses
  • Sun screen (Please bring lotion instead of spray.  The spray can blow onto fiberglass, seats, carpet, etc.)
  • Fishing cap
  • Lunch, snacks, and drinks (The boat is equipped with an ice chest and I provide the ice)
  • Texas Resident Freshwater Fishing License (Annual - $30, One Day - $11) or Non-resident Freshwater Fishing License (Annual - $58, One Day- $16)
  • (For license by mail call Texas Parks & Wildlife 1-800-895-4248)

Do you furnish rods, reels, and lures?

All lures will be furnished at no additional cost.  I furnish rods and reels if needed, but I do recommend bringing your own if you have good equipment.  There is no additional charge for the use of my rods and reels, but I do ask that you replace any equipment if they are damaged during your trip.  Please let me know in advance if you will need to use my equipment.

What will we do for lunch?

We normally bring a sack lunch and eat on the water.  The boat has a built-in cooler for drinks and food that needs to stay cold, and you are more than welcome to use it.

Can you suggest a motel?

There are many places to stay on Lake Fork.  Some of the motels that my customers have had good experiences with are Lake Fork Marina, Sunrise Lodge on Lake Fork, Burnin' Stump Lodge, Lake Fork Lodge, and Mustang Resort.

Can you handle group or corporate trips?

Absolutely.  I work with many of the other top guides on the lake, and I can make all the arrangements for you.  It is best to decide on a date as quickly as possible so that we can assure availability of the other guides and motel accommodations (if needed).

Do you guide on any other lakes?

Yes.  I also do guided trips on Lake Welsh.  Lake Welsh can be nothing short of incredible during November, December, and January as the fish there will spawn during these months due to the warmer water being discharged from the power plant.  Our full day trips average over 30 bass with many in the 3 to 5 pound range.   We'll also get a fish over 6 pounds every now and then.  The fish on Lake Welsh fight extra hard due to the year round current and warm water.

Do you accept Credit Cards?

Yes.  You can pay your deposit or pay in full by credit card using PayPal.  Just click on the PayPal button in the sidebar area.  You do not need a PayPal account to use your card.
